ASTON, PA - #3 Neumann will advance to the semifinals with a 19-9 victory over #6 Rosemont College on Saturday, April 29. This marks Neumann's 11th win of the season and the second year in a row that the Knights will advance to the semifinal round of PAC playoffs. The Knights will face #2 Coming into the match, Rosemont (3-11, 3-7 PAC) was looking to upset the Knights (11-4, 8-2 PAC) in order to advance to the semifinals, and took a lead of 3-1 early in the first half. The lead did not last long, though, when the Knights took control of the field and eventually the game. Dominating in front of the net for Neumann was senior midfielder Kolleen Kitzinger who recorded 7 goals and 4 assists on the day. Also propelling the Knights' offense was senior midfielder Brandy McCreary, who notched up 7 points in the game, finding the back of the net for 3 goals and handing out 4 assists. With a score of Neumann 9, Rosemont 6 at the half, and after a slew of yellow cards were handed out, Neumann came out in the second half knowing they had to up the lead in order to secure the win. Senior Samantha Lafferty was quick off the draw, winning 19 draw controls in Neumann's favor and coming up with 12 ground balls while causing 6 turnovers. Lafferty controlled the midfield but also came up big on the attack scoring 4 goals and 2 assists. Also lighting up the net were Knights Michelle Coderre and Amanda Biagi with 2 goals a piece, and freshman Gabby D'Ambrosio with one goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Caitlin O'Shea was solid between the pipes for Neumann, allowing only 9 goals against and picking up 8 saves. The Rambler offense was piloted by midfielder Cecelia Saunders, who scored 5 goals and had 1 assist. Also helping out on attack was Kyleen Roe, Jen Dugan, Kaitlin Hans, and Caroline Torbik who each scored a goal. Madeline Kropp played a tough game goal for the Ramblers, tallying 25 saves and causing 4 turnovers. Notes: Kolleen Kitzinger's 11 points for Neumann now gives her the record for points in an individual season (98) with a total of 58 goals and 40 assists.
