An early goal by Samantha Lafferty gave the Knights an early lead but Neumann could not hold on as Eastern ended the Knights season, out scoring the visitors 17-9 in the Semifinals of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Championship in Radnor, PA. Eastern did not let the first minute goal shake their confidence as the semifinal host responded with four consecutive goals in the next ten minutes of play. Neumann halted the Eagles momentarily, regrouping after a time out and capitalizing on a draw control won by Amanda Biagi and played out flawlessly. Biagi's pass to Michelle coderre was set up and passed to Courtney Murphy who closed the gap on the Eagles 4-2. Eastern quickly widened their lead 6-2 in the next eight minutes however; a free position shot scored by Amanda Biagi continued to keep things close. The two teams battled, with each team scoring set of consecutive goals. Neumann's Michelle coderre scored the final goal of the half off a pass from Courtney Murphy closing out the first 30 minutes of play down 10-5. Neumann started the second half similar to the first, as Courtney Murphy found the net before the first minute had expired. The Knights went on to receive three more goals, one from Kolleen Kitzinger and two from Amanda Biagi as the team put forth a great effort in an attempt to overcome the Eagles lead, but could not stop the tournament host from scoring the final five consecutive goals, ending their season and the game down 17-9. |
