Knights Name Six to All-PAC Team

Aston, PA-Six members of the Neumann College women's lacrosse team were included on the All-Pennsylvania Athletic Conference first and second teams announced Friday.

 

Senior Kolleen Kitzinger was named to the All-PAC first team for the second consecutive season after scoring 60 goals and adding 40 assists. She ranks fifth in points among NCAA Division III player and leaves Neumann with 133 career goals, placing her third all time on the Neumann Knights leader's board.

 

Senior Sam Lafferty is joined by sophomore Courtney Murphy and freshman Caitlin O'Shea on the All-PAC Second Team. Lafferty is making her fourth appearance on the All-PAC team while Murphy and O'Shea appear for the first time in their careers as a Knight.

 

Samantha Lafferty leads all Knights in total points (283), ground balls (200) and draw controls (213). She is among the top leaders in the NCAA National Rankings Summary for draw controls (2nd), ground balls (9th) and caused turnovers (5th). She leaves Neumann with 200 goals, 83 assists 126 caused turnovers.

Courtney Murphy leads all Knights in caused turnovers. The sophomore's defensive skills have assisted her team in leading all NCAA Division III teams in that category for the last two consecutive seasons. Murphy caused 70 turnovers this season and racked up 29 points in her second year as a Knight. She ends the 2006 season ranked 2nd in NCAA Division III for caused turnovers.

 

Neumann's starting goalie Caitlin O'Shea, led the Knights in the net for the second straight year. The sophomore from Springfield, Pennsylvania has an 8-5 record and 8.95 goals against average. She holds the Knights overall record for the career wins at 14 and her 8.95 GAA is the third best among all former Knights. She was named to the All-PAC Second team after completing her second season as a Knight. 

 

Rounding out the group is seniors Brandy McCreary and Jill Rodgers. McCreary was selected to the 2006 All-PAC Sportsmanship Team along with the All-PAC Honorable Mention honor. McCreary was a first team pick in 2004 and a second team choice in 2005. She leaves Neumann with 72 career goals and 78 assists.

 

 

Jill Rodgers, a second team pick in 2005 is a proven leader on the field. Rodgers leaves Neumann with 113 ground balls and 94 caused turnovers.   

 

Neumann ended the year 11-5 and advanced to the PAC Tournament for the 4th consecutive year.
