April 30, 2005 - Dover, DE - #4 Wesley College (7-8) hosted #5 Neumann College (8-7) in the 1st round of the 2005 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament. the Knights defeated the Wolverines by a final score of 10-6 on Saturday afternoon.
Courtney Murphy scored 19 seconds into the game to put Neumann on top 1-0. The Knights held onto the lead until Ginny Roma put Wesley on the board with 23:13 left in the first half. Neumann answered right back with 3 unanswered goals to go up 4-1 and held their largest margin of 4 goals on consecutive goals by Samantha Lafferty to put Neumann up 6-2. Lafferty scored 2 goals in 36 seconds. Wesley's Kelsey Humphries scored with 5:00 left to close the gap to 6-3 heading into halftime.
Wesley attempted to close the deficit to 2 goals on a goal by Samantha Keller just 50 seconds into the second half, but the Wolverines would get no closer than 2 goals the rest of the game. Wesley and Neumann traded goals the rest of the half, with Neumann scoring consecutive goals to end the game.
Wesley out-shot the Knights 30-28. Neumann goalkeeper Caitlin O'Shea posted 17 saves on the day. Neumann will advance to play in the semifinal round at #1 Cabrini on Wednesday, April 4, 2005. Game time will be set for 4:00.
