Aston, PA - Prior to their last home game of the 2005 season against the Garnet Tide of Swarthmore College, seniors Michelle Roberts, Kolleen Kitzinger and Ashley Barr were celebrated at center field in a pre-game ceremony for their hard work, dedication, and support of the Neumann Knights program.


In the first half the Garnet jumped out to a 3-0 lead however, the Knights answered, as they scored the next three goals to tie the game with 16:43 remaining in the first half. Samantha Lafferty scored twice and added an assist on a goal by Kitzinger.

SC scored at 14:49 to regain the lead but Roberts tied the match at 4-4 2:30 later. The Garnet then used a 5-0 run to open a 9-4 halftime advantage.

In the second half SC kept the pressure on scoring three goals in the first 15 minutes of play and taking a 12-4 lead.

Neumann attempted to rally, scoring three goals in a span of 1:24 to close to within five with 16:24 remaining. Kitzinger added two goals for the hat trick and Lafferty picked up her third of the game to cut into the Garnet lead.

Swarthmore's Roth collected her third goal of the game at 12:40 and added her fourth goal just 1:55 later to make it a 14-7 game. Forbes tallied her fifth goal with 5:51 remaining to give the Garnet a 15-7 lead. Lafferty tried to keep the Knights alive scoring her fourth of the game with 3:54 left but the Carnet Tide came in for one more to close out the scoring and end the day up 16-8.
