Tri-sport athlete Chelsea Ward selected to the 2007 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll
Murphy and Ward Honored on IWLCA Academic Honor Roll

Aston, Pa. - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) has recognized 410 collegiate athletes for achieving success in the classroom with the naming of the 2007 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll. Teammates Chelsea Ward and Courtney Murphy were among the IWLCA's academic honorees.

"Academics have always been a major part of the women's lacrosse philosophy at Neumann College. These two women exemplify what it truly means to be a Neumann Knight. Their skill, determination and leadership both on and off the field of play are a testament the whole Neumann College Community, stated Head Coach Sarah Madrak.


The IWLCA academic honor roll includes student athletes with junior or senior eligibility and a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. This year's honor roll includes 410 athletes from 161 colleges and universities.

       Courtney Murphy

2007 Team Captain Courtney Murphy, a junior criminal justice major, led the Knights in ground balls (63) and was among the team's top leaders in points (31), goals (23), assists (8) and draw controls (31). She was a 2007 All-PAC Honorable Mention honoree and earned offensive MVP honors by the team following the 2007 season.


Junior Chelsea Ward, a tri-sport athlete in field hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse, was also selected to the 2007 IWLCA's Academic Honor Roll. Ward, a psychology major, appeared in 14 games in her first year as a member of the women's lacrosse team and was a valuable leader both on and off the field.
