The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Honors the Neumann Knights Women's Lacrosse Team as a Division III National Statistical Champion.

Aug. 22, 2005

Aston, PA - On August 20, 2005 the Neumann Athletic Department received word that the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) awarded the 2005 Neumann Knights Women's Lacrosse Team with a Division-III National Statistical Champion Award.

This award was presented to the Knights after the compilation of the 2005 NCAA national statistical data. The NCAA statistics staff recognized the team's tenacious defense and ability to force opponents into turnovers. The Knights caused 290 turnovers this season averaging 18.13 per game, leading all Division III institutions.

"This is a great accomplishment for the team. They have worked incredibly hard during the season to become a better defensive team. As their coach I am extremely happy and proud to see the team receive this honor, they certainly earned it," stated Head Coach, Carol Di Girolamo.

The 2005 Knights ended their season 8-8 Overall and 7-3 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference. Four Knights, Samanatha Lafferty (Jr, Glenolden, PA/Interboro), Brandy McCreary (Jr, West Chester, PA/Henderson), Jill Rodgers (Jr, Prospect Park, PA/Interboro), and Kolleen Kitzinger, (Sr, Springfield, PA/Archbishop Prendergast) were named to All-PAC teams. Teammate Ashley Barr (Sr, D, Essington, PA/Interboro) was also named to the 2005 PAC Sportsmanship Team.
