Oct. 3, 2005

Box Score

ASTON, Pa. - College Misericordia battled to keep its 2005 record perfect in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference against Neumann College on Monday, October 3, coming away with a 3-0 win against the Knights at Bruder Field.

Lindsay Klinepeter used her fourth goal of the year to decide the game in favor of the Cougars, who are currently 9-2 and 5-0 in the PAC after today's contest. The loss drops the Knights to 5-4-1 overall and 2-6 in the PAC.

The two teams battled scoreless for much of the first half but the Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute of the match off a goal from Lindsay Klinepeter who received a cross from teammate Cole Vennie. The Knights attempted to tie the game with two shots on goal before the end of the first half but could not get past College Misericordia's goalkeeper Kathleen Schwarz, in the remaining minutes of the half.

The Cougars extended their lead to 2-0 when Cole Vennie recovered her own rebound and sent it into the opposite side of the net for a goal in the first minute of the second half. The Knights battled to avoid the shut out and did receive some breathing room from College Misericordia late in the game, but they could not capitalize on some key opportunities. The Cougars sealed the deal at 60:10, as Klinepeter scored her second goal of the game off a pass from Nichole Williams earning College Misericordia their sixth shutout of the season.

In goal Knights Kelsey Toomey and Elizabeth Raiburn combined for 10 saves while Schwarz stopped five for the Cougars.

The Knights will meet Widener University at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5. The Knights have six games left before senior day on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 12:45 p.m. vs. Gwynedd Mercy College.
