Knights Headed to Kim Servedio Memorial Tournament Championship for 2nd Consecutive Year

FREDERICK, Md. - Neumann College is heading to the championship game of the Kim Servedio Memorial Tournament for the second consecutive year after defeating tournament host Hood College, 3-2, in overtime on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

 

Hood took the first lead of the afternoon scoring off a penalty kick in the 28th minute of play. Neumann tied the game after Casey Geary (Ocean City, NJ/Ocean City) was able to convert a pass from junior Stephanie Lutz (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) in the 31st minute making it a 1-1 game. Hood however, regained the lead in the 41st minute to end the half up 2-1.  

 

In the second half, Neumann Knight Kim Rizzo (Pennsville, NJ/Pennsville) tied the game in the 59th minute after her unassisted goal went unanswered sending the two teams into overtime.

 

Today's win marks the first come from behind win for the Knights in over three years.
