Neumann Celebrates Another Successful Season

Dec. 3, 2005

The Neumann College Women's Soccer team hosted its third annual awards banquet on Saturday, December 2, 2005.  Director of Athletics, Chuck Sack served as emcee of the event and welcomed over 75 supporters back to campus to help celebrate the strong bonds between team members.

At the banquet, the coaching staff recognized the hard work and effort of every individual.  Each team member received a participation award for their year(s) of service and dedication.  After recognizing each team member, Coach Lisa Benvenuto awarded the team awards.

The team's most valuable player was junior Nicole Christy.  Nicole was a strong presence on the field and helped lead the team from her middle field position.  The St. Francis and Clare Leadership award is given to the individual who represents the values and mission of the College the best.  This year senior captain Shana Mitchell was awarded the St. Francis and Clare Leadership award.  The team also recognized a most improved player as well as distributing a coaches' award. This year's most improved player was awarded to sophomore, Katrina Browning. The coaches' award was awarded to sophomore, Kathleen Lamb.

This year's banquet also recognized Neumann's Conference award winners. Junior Casey Geary, 2005 PAC Player of the Week Honorable Mention honoree, was also named to the All-PAC All-Conference Honorable Mention team along with teammate Junior, Jess Kempa. Senior, co-captain, Shana Mitchell received All PAC All-Conference Sportsmanship honors as the Knights officially ended their season.

To conclude the event, Benvenuto and Sack expressed their gratitude along with that of Assistant Coach Laurie Muller, to the all the Neumann family for their dedication and support of the team this season.
