Neumann Sweeps Northland College, 6-1, 9-0

Disney, Fl. - The Neumann College softball team swept Northland College in an early day double header at the Wide World of Sports Complex in Disney, Florida on Wednesday, March 9, 2007.

 

In the opener, starting pitcher Angela Sebasto went seven innings and struck out 12 Northland batters en route to a 6-1 win over the Northland Lumber. The sophomore from Trenton, New Jersey gave up only three hits in her second debut of the season.

 

Offensively Jen Goslin (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) led the Knights at the plate. The freshman first baseman hit her first collegiate career homerun, a 2 run homer, giving the Knights more than they would need to take the win in game one.

 

In the second game of the double header Katie Kletzel took to the mound, in her first appearance this season, and earned a 9-0 shutout over the Lumber. The senior captain threw a 5 hitter striking out 2 in the win.

 

Offensively Sabasto went 4-4 with three runs scored and 3 RBI. Caitlin Hanrahan (Springfield, Pa. /Springfield) was 3-4 with three runs scored and a double. Jen Goslin stepped up once again going 3-3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI.

 

Neumann will be off until Thursday evening at which time they will face off against Division II opponent Goldey-Beacom College at 6:30 p.m.
