Angela Sebasto pitched her first collegiate no-hitter on Monday March 3, 2008, during the Neumann Softball team's spring training trip in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. During the 5-inning shutout, Sebasto had twelve strikeouts. The game, the first of the spring training eight game series, revealed Neumann's stellar defensive skills and solid offence. It was a solid team effort, with each person contributing to the win.
Junior Angela Sebasto adds her thoughts about the game. "We came together as a team and had fun. The defensive support helped to maintain my intensity. Offensively we battled and made good contact at the plate."
Junior captain Caitlin Hanrahan went 2-3 at the plate and led the team with 4 RBI's. Along with a solid single to left field, Hanrahan's 3-run homerun in the fourth inning changed the outcome of the game. Jennifer Goslin also contributed to the win with 2 RBI's and Angela Sebasto ended the game with a 2-run double.
When asked about her homerun, Hanrahan gives most of the credit to her supportive teammates. "It felt good. I'm finally getting back into my hitting groove. It great to know that the hitters around me in the lineup have the same approach to hitting as I do; we look for good solid contact, not home runs. It was great team win."
