The Knights used pitching and defense to defeat the Griffins, 2-1, in game one then exploded for 12 runs in the final two innings of a 16-4, six-inning victory in game two.
After two scoreless innings in the first game, Gwynedd Mercy took advantage of a wild pitch and crossed home plate for the first run of the game. Neumann took some time answering back but got all they needed in the sixth inning when Gabrielle Lulias scored on a throwing error to tie the game at one. The Knights then got some offensive help from senior captain Kirsten Lawlor who doubled to center field and scored Angela Sebasto for the 2-1 lead and the win.
In the second game, Neumann quickly opened the scoring with two in the first first. Lulias crossed the plate on a double by Caitlin Hanrahan, and was repaid for her efforts when an error on the Griffins shortstop allowed her to score, giving the Knights a 2-1 lead.
Hanrahan open the 3rd with her second double of the day and scored on another field error by the Griffins. She repeated the hit in the fourth, her third double of the game, scoring teammate Lauren Gallagher and giving the Knights a 3-1 lead.
In the fifth Neumann pulled away scoring 6 runs on 7 hits. Jen Goslin singled up the middle starting things off for the Knights. Lawlor and Chandra Moore followed suit and earned two RBI for the Knights. The next three batters each recorded a hit and an RBI to extend Neumann's lead, 10-3. Neumann added six more runs in the 6th en route to the 16-4 win in game two.
Senior Captain Katie Kletzel faced 26 batters on the mound. She struck out three and walked one to record her third win of the season.
