Wayne, PA-The Knights traveled to Eastern for a Friday afternoon game looking to stay on top of the PAC. The story of the day was all about pitching. With 11 strikeouts from junior Angela Sebasto, the Knights were able to walk away with a 4-1 victory in game one. Neumann was unable to come away with a second win when Eastern's pitcher Ashley Lewis put together a solid game of her own.
Both teams scored in the first inning of the opening game, but Neumann picked up the go-ahead run in the fourth on an RBI single from Audrie Porter, and then tacked on a pair in the fifth on an RBI from Caitlin Hanrahan. The Eagles threatened with the bases loaded and a single out in the sixth, but Sebasto escaped the jam, and the Eagles went quietly, 4-1.
Neumann got on the board first in game two in the top of the second when Christina Walsh singled sending Jen Goslin home. The Knights had the bases loaded in the inning but were not able to advance the players home. Eastern picked up the tying run in the third on an unearned run on a throwing error. The Knights put runners on second and third in the fourth, but Lewis again escaped without harm.
The Eagles delivered the big blow of the day with a three-run shot to left center in the bottom of the fourth and the Knights were unable to recover.
The split moves the Knights to 10-2 in conference play. The Knights will return to action with a home double header against Misericordia University with a 1:00 p.m. start.
