April 23, 2007

Box Score

Radnor, Pa. - Neumann College's Katie Kletzel took the mound in her 12th start of the season and earned her 8th win after she pitched 6.2 innings, gave up only one earned run and fanned 2 en route to a 9-3 win over Cabrini College in the opener.

The Knights received offensive help from Caitlin Hanrahan who went 2-for-3 with a first inning homerun and a double, Sheila Munson who scored her first collegiate homerun in the second inning and Danielle Hayes who went 3-for-4 with a 6th inning homerun and three runs scored.

In the night cap Angela Sebasto pitched a complete 7-inning game. The sophomore from Trenton, New Jersey fanned eight and gave up just one run on four hits.

Neumann was down 1-0 through the fourth inning but rallied back in the fifth after Lauren Gallagher singled to right field and Hanrahan took first on a base on balls setting up Jen Goslin who doubled to center field scoring Gallagher and Hanrahan for the 3-1 lead.

In the 6th inning Samantha Duncan pinch hit for first baseman Audrie Porter and hit her second homerun of the season giving the Knights a 4-1 lead over the Cavaliers. In the bottom of the seventh Neumann's Danielle Hayes singled to left field sparking a 5-hit, 6-run inning which included a 3-run homerun by Christina Walsh to end the game 10-1.

Next up for the Knights: Neumann will travel to Widener University on Wednesday, April 25, for a non-conference double header at 4:00 p.m.
