Jen Goslin's third inning 2-run homerun gave Neumann all they would need.

Knights Advance After Upending Misericorida in 2006 Championship Rematch

May 5, 2007

Box Score

Glenside, Pa. - In a rematch of the 2006 PAC Championship game the No. 3 Neumann Knights defeated first round opponent No. 2 College Misericorida 3-1 when the two teams opened the 2007 PAC Championship Tournament hosted by Arcadia University in Glenside, Pennsylvania.

After a scoreless first inning Kirsten Norris led off for the Cougars in the bottom of the 2nd and hit a solo homerun off of starting pitcher Angela Sebasto. However, that would be College Misericorida's only run of the day.

Neumann did one better in the third inning. Caitlin Hanrahan hit a single up left center to start things off for the Knights before freshman Jen Goslin stepped to the plate. With a ball and a strike in the book, Goslin saw her pitch. The Coatesville, Pennsylvania native hit a shot out of the park that scored Hanranhan and gave Neumann the edge they needed.

The 2-1 score would remain on the board through the sixth inning. In the top of the seventh a successful bunt by Sebasto, who advanced to third on two consecutive Cougar errors, opened the door for Kirsten Lawlor who singled up right center to give the Knights some insurance.

Sebasto completed the seven inning victory retiring the side in order in the seventh and earning the Knights their 13th consecutive win of the season.

The Knights will play Eastern University at 4:00 p.m. in their second game of the weekend event.
