Box Score

Glenside, Pa. - No. 3 Neumann College needed extra innings to seal their, 4-3 victory over Eastern University Saturday afternoon and will advance to Sunday's PAC championship game to play the winner of tomorrow's first game between No.2 College Misericordia and No.5 Eastern.

The Knights scored early, notching 2 runs on 3 hits in the first inning when Shelea Munson took advantage of an error at third by Eastern to score run one of two on the inning. Angela Sebasto's RBI single brought in Danielle Hayes for Neumann's second run and their 2-0 lead.

Eastern answered in the top of the fourth with Karen Hertzog starting the Eagles off hitting a home run before the Eagles tacked on two more runs in the same inning to take the 3-2 advantage.  Neumann even the score in the bottom of the fifth off an RBI single from Audrie Porter to plate Jen DiMario.

The two teams split the games only two hits through six and seven and Eastern failed to push a run across in the extra inning leaving the Knights the opportunity in the bottom of the eighth to win the contest. Gabrielle Lulias reached on an error, Hayes walked and Caitlin Hanrahan powered and RBI single that landed fair down the right field line with Lulias trucking home for the game winning run.

In her first playoff appearance in four years senior Katie Kletzel earned the win on the hill, her 11th of the season, throwing six, seven and eight allowing no runs on one Eastern hit.  Sebasto got the start for the Knights, throwing five innings, allowing 3 runs on five hits with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.  Ashley Lewis took the loss for Eastern through 7.2 innings for 4 runs on 9 hits, 4 walks and 1 strikeout.
