Kim Zlupko was 2 for 4 with a double in the 3-2 victory.
Knights One Game Closer to PAC Title

May 6, 2006

Box Score

Dallas, PA- In only the Knights second trip to the PAC Tournament, Neumann has advanced to their first ever PAC championship game, after capturing two consecutive one-run victories over second seeded Arcadia University 4-3 and first seeded College Misericorida 3-2 in Saturday's Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) Tournament in Dallas, Pennsylvania.

Neumann will take the field for the 2006 PAC Tournament Championship at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.

In game two of the double elimination weekend event, Neumann opened the scoring with a double by Kim Zlupko. Zlupko advanced to third base after Danielle Hayes reached on an error. The Knights' shortstop then crossed home plate after capitalizing on a wild pitch earning her team the 1-0 lead.

Neumann extended their lead to two in the top of the third when singles by Hayes, Caitlin Hanrahan, and relief pitcher Angela Sebasto opened the door for Lauren Gallagher. The sophomore sacrificed a high fly ball out to center field scoring Hayes for the 2-0 lead.

The Cougars responded in the bottom of the third with a 2-run inning. The tournament hosts tied the game when Kristen Norris hit a double in the gap, scoring Laura Mushinski and Jen Gehman making it a 2-2 ball game.

After the Knights defense shut down College Misericordia in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings Neumann got the break they need offensively to shut the game down. Hanrahan singled and was advanced when an error by College Misericordia's Erin Maravec allowed Sebasto to take first base. The two Knights advanced once more when Gallaher grounded out to second base, setting the stage for Neumann Knight Chandra Moore. Moore's single up the middle would prove to be all the Knights would need to record the win, as Hanrahan crossed the plate at home for the winning run.

Knights' pitcher Kelli Ann Meehan threw 5 innings before being relieved by winning pitcher Angela Sebasto. Sebasto threw three-innings allowing only one hit while Meehan allowed two unearned runs on six hits in her five innings of play.

With the win the Knights advance to the PAC Championship for the first time in program history (1981). Neumann will face the winner of the Arcadia University-College Misericordia Game at 12:00 p.m. Sunday.
