Samantha Duncan records her first career win
 
Neumann Splits Opening PAC Series

March 25, 2007

Aston, PA-Neumann College (6-2, 1-1 PAC) opened conference play today against Arcadia University (10-4, 1-1 PAC). The Knights founded themselves down two early runs after two innings of play in the first game. The Knights then rallied starting with their strong 2-3 punch of Hayes and Hanrahan to tie the game at 2-2. Danielle Hayes led off the third inning with a single followed by home-run hitter Caitlin Hanrahan who hit a 2-run homerun to give the Knights the tie.

The Knights came around after that when they received hard fought pitching from stud ace Angela Sebasto. From there, the Knights found themselves in a critical call that ended up costing them the game when one umpire called out the player stealing first to second but the official umpire behind the plate ended up calling her safe which led to the game winning run in top of the seventh. The Knights fell short in Game One 3-2.

Game Two was more exciting than the first. Senior Captain Katie Kletzel started the game for the Knights. Arcadia found themselves up 4-0 going into the bottom of the 4th when Neumann started finding their offense which led to two runs.

The Knights were sparked in the 6th inning where once again the 2-3 punch of Hayes and Hanrahan came up big and this time led the Knights to a 7-6 win in Game Two. Hayes hit a base clearing double which made the score 6-5, from there Hanrahan stepped up to the plate where she hit a bomb that left the field that gave the Knights the lead.

Samantha Duncan came in to pitched 2.1 innings in relief to record her first collegiate win. Angela Sebasto came in the 7th inning where she once again brought here "A" game which gave her the save.

The Knights next game is Tuesday, March 27th at Eastern University. First hurl is at 3:00pm.
