Neumann College Placed Five Players on the 2006 All-PAC Softball Team and Produced the PAC Rookie of the Year and PAC Coach of the Year.

Neumann College placed five players on the 2006 All-Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Softball Team and produced the PAC Rookie of the Year and PAC Coach of the Year.

 

In balloting by the conference's twelve head coaches, Neumann's Bill Saar was chosen as the PAC Coach of the Year and for the second year in a row; Neumann was honored with the All-PAC Rookie of the Year honor. Freshman Angela Sebasto was chosen as this year's award winner. Teammates Danielle Hayes, Kim Zlupko, Caitlin Hanrahan and 2005 Rookie of the Year Kelli Ann Meehan also garnered All-PAC honors. 

Completing his third season as the head coach of the Knights, Saar earned the 2006 honor after guiding Neumann to the College's first championship title. The Knights also established a new school record with 30 victories and have a 62-54 overall record during the past three seasons. 


 

 


 
2006 Rookie of the Year and First Team All-PAC Angela Sebasto, a freshman pitcher from Trenton, New Jersey, has a 16-4 record and a 2.27 ERA. She is second on the team with 16 complete games and has recorded three shutouts in her first season as a Knight. She also is among the top five players in the PAC in five different categories, including homeruns. 


Two-time First Team All-PAC Kim Zlupko, switched from second base in 2005 to the shortstop position this season. A native of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, Zlupko boasted a .342 batting average, made 144 catches this season and led the team in runs scored and hits. Zlupko was also the Knights choice for the 2006 All-PAC Sportsmanship Team.

 

Caitlin Hanrahan, a rookie from Springfield, Pennsylvania received First Team All-PAC honors as a catcher. She ended the 2006 season first on the team in stolen bases (6-for-6) and RBI's (43), third on the team with a .363 batting average, and third on the team in homeruns (4). She has a .975 fielding percentage and is second in putouts with 110. 




Freshman Danielle Hayes, one of the top hitters in the conference, was voted as a member of the First Team All-PAC as a second baseman. Hayes, a native of Carlisle, Pennsylvania led Neumann in fielding double plays. She was second on the team with 11 doubles, 4 homeruns, a .381 batting average; she posted a .584 slugging percentage and was third on the team with 28 RBI's.

 

 

Rounding out Neumann's PAC honors is 2005 Rookie of the Year Kelli Ann Meehan. Meehan has a 1.81 ERA and is 13-8 overall. She pitched 17 complete games this season and recording six shutouts. The sophomore from Springfield, Pennsylvania pitched 127.2 innings this season and struck out 115 batters.



Neumann (30-13) ended their season at the 2006 NCAA Championship Regional in Salisbury, Maryland after winning their first ever PAC Championship on May 7, 2006.
