Aston, Pa.  - Neumann sophomore Caitlin Hanrahan has been selected as one of 11 student-athletes selected to The Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Softball Team, voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Hanrahan's latest accolade comes on the heels of several others resulting from the 2007 season. Most recently Hanrahan was named the 2007 Neumann Knights' Co-MVP at the team's season ending softball banquet on May 31. She was also named to the NCFA All-Region Third Team, All-PAC First Team and was a three-time PAC Player of the Week.   

Hanrahan's performance on the field was equally as impressive. She led the league in run's scored (46), hit a career best .448 and broke Neumann's career doubles (33) and homerun (14) records. She also shattered several game and single-season marks. Hanrahan was ranked 4^th nationally in doubles per game, 22^nd in runs per game and 29^th in slugging percentage.

Hanrahan, a communication and media arts major with a 3.5 cumulative GPA, finished the season batting .448 with 10 home runs and 34 RBI.

"Caitlin continues to develop as a player and as a student. She went out of her way to step up and fill in when we needed her to and that really paid off for the team this season. She always put the team first and that is a special quality to have in a player. She is truly deserving of this award, stated Head Coach Bill Saar.

Caitlin Hanrahan was joined on the Academic All-Area Softball Team by Arcadia's Jennifer Compton, Temple's Adrienne Repsher and Courtney Norene, Univ. of Sciences' Brittany Ebersole, Laura Flint and Megan Trimble, Penn's Annie Kinsey and Olivia Mauro, Rowan's Jen Lake and Widener's Stephanie Caulford.
