Aston, Pa. - Neumann College traveled to Scranton, Pennsylvania to kick off its 2007 PAC Conference schedule clipping the Pacers of Marywood University, 5-4. The Knights lost 2 of 3 doubles points, but big wins at Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 6 singles helped Neumann bring home the win. "This was a great win for us," stated Head Coach Christian Gosseaux. "The women played well and never gave up. They continue to surprise me in each outing. " Rachel Coladonato and Allison Trout lost at No. 1 doubles to Ryann Null and Alesha Petrash, 8-1, while Kayla Chamberlain and Michelle Steward lost in the No. 2 spot, 8-4 to Jodi Balch and Aubrey Klesh. Newcomer Lindsey Ravior and veteran junior Courtney Hartel had the only doubles win for Neumann, as they beat Samantha Miller and Bethanie LeCureux at No. 3, 8-3. In singles, Neumann suffered two loses at the No. 1 and No.5 spot, but rebounded from a 4-2 deficit to win the final three matches on the court and defeat an unsuspecting Marywood University 5-4. Katie Nell lost to Ryann Null 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 and Chamberlain lost to Aubrey Klesh 6-2, 6-3. But four singles wins helped give Neumann the 5-4 victory. Hartel had a big win at No. 6 singles, as she beat LeCureux 6-1, 6-1, and Trout won at No. 2 singles, beating Alesha Petrash in a tie breaker 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3). Sophomore Michelle Steward tied the match with a win at No. 3 singles, as she beat Miller 7-5, 7-6 (7-5). Last off the court was Lindsey Ravior at No. 4 singles. Ravior defeated Michaela Herr in a tough and well fought match 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, to give the Knights their first conference win of the season. The Knights will return home to host King's College on Monday at 3:30 p.m. Tennis Match Results Singles Competition Doubles Competition Match Notes: -This is the first win for the Knights on the Pacer's courts in women's tennis program history.
