Neumann Serves Falcons First Loss of the Season

Results

Aston, PA - Neumann College lost just two singles matches and one doubles match on Friday on their way to a 6-3 victory over Pennsylvania Athletic Conference foe, Cedar Crest College. With the win, the Knights move to 2-5 (2-3 PAC) on the season while Cedar Crest drops to 2-4 (2-1 PAC).

 

The Knights jumped ahead early, winning two out of three doubles matches in route to their second victory of the season. The duo of Shamira Cannon (Chester, Pa. /The Christian Academy) and Melinda Howell (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) were the first off the court earning the Knights their first point of the afternoon at 3rd doubles, 8-0. The Senior-combo of Sarah Tomlinson (Lancaster, Pa. /Lancaster Catholic) and Ashley Miller (Newark, De. /Newark) added to the Knights score winning 8-3 at 1st singles.

 

Tomlinson went on to win her first PAC match of the year at 1st singles, 6-0, 6-3, and Howell won at 5th singles, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. But the real story of the night was senior Ashley Miller who clinched the match for the Knights at 2nd singles, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5, after being down 5-4 in the third set.

 

In one final match up, Courtney Hartel (Clifton Heights, Pa. /Upper Darby) returned to the court competing in a late night pro-set, at 6th singles, which she won 8-0.

 

The Knights will return to action Saturday, Sept. 23 when they play host to Immaculata University at 1:00 p.m.
