Aston, Pa. - Neumann's Courtney Hartel notched Neumann's best performance on the day, winning her semi-final match to advance to Saturday's Championship final at #6 singles. Hartel squeaked out her first set against Colleen Ford (Cedar Crest), 7-5, before cruising to the 6-0 second set win for the straight set victory that moved her into the finals for the second consecutive year. Upon defeating Colleen Ford, Hartel moves on to face Christine Telling of Cabrini in the Championship match on Saturday. Other strong performances from the Knights included Lindsey Ravior and Kayla Chamberlain. Although they did not advance in singles play on Friday, they displayed toughness in not backing down against some tough opponents. Lindsey Ravior put up a tough fight in the semi-finals of fourth singles against Nicole Pontious of Cabrini, going 6-2, 6-0 in favor of Pontious. Kayla Chamberlain entered into a playoff match with Ashley Mangabang of Misericorida and dropped an 8-game pro-set at fifth singles, 8-1.
Doubles action also provided some solid performances from the Knights as the pairing of Courtney Hartel and Lindsey Ravior were finally sent away with a 8-2 loss against Cabrini's Nicole Pontious and Stephanie Tighe. |
