Sister Betty entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, in 1966. For the next 36 years, Sister Betty taught in 6 elementary schools and was principal in 3 elementary schools for 19 of these 36 years. She had the wonderful experience of working in the Archdioceses of Philadelphia, Camden, NJ, Trenton, NJ, and Charlotte, NC. Sister received her BS degree in Elementary Education from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia and her master's degree in Education Administration from Villanova University. It was as principal of St. Katharine Drexel School in Chester, PA, from 1996 to 2003, that Sister Betty had the opportunity of working with young adults from Widener University's and Neumann College's Field Experience programs. This graced opportunity led Sister Betty to Neumann College in 2003 where she now works in forming the next generation of elementary education teachers. As chaplain of the women's tennis team Sister strives to offer support and encouragement to the players and coaches. In truth, the team and coaches also give much support and encouragement to Sister Betty. This actually is why Sister Betty is such a sports fan. She believes participation in sports allows for cooperation, discipline, hard work, dedication, leadership, and growth for all those involved. Sister feels it is a privilege to minister as chaplain of the Neumann tennis team! |
