Aston, PA-The Neumann College woman's tennis team, along with their families and friends, came out to the Living and Learning Center Schmidt Room, on Neumann's campus Saturday November 18th, 2006 to celebrate the women's tennis team at the 4th annual awards banquet. Athletic Director Chuck Sack welcomed the crowd, speaking on how fortunate the players are to now be a part of the Neumann tennis tradition. Serving as the emcee of the afternoon Sack honored the team and the accomplishments of 2nd year Head Coach, Chris Gosseaux, before turning over the microphone to Gosseaux and Student Assistant Kevin Conroy, who after their opening remarks, honored the afternoon's award winners. During the ceremony awards were given to members and supporters of the team for their dedication, and excellence both on and off the court. The coaches began by recognizing the team's participation awards. Following the participation awards, the Coach Gosseaux announced that this years MVP award would honor the whole team for their outstanding performance on the courts this season. This years woman's tennis team became the best in program history recording a final record of 8-3 in the PAC and 9-7 Overall. Other award recipients were: When the coaches finished giving their individual awards to the players, they announced the PAC Conference Awards. They began by recognizing Ashley Miller who was selected to the Push the Rock Sportsmanship Team. Next they honored Courtney Hartel, who was named to the All-PAC Woman's Tennis Second Team. Before the conclusion of the afternoon outgoing seniors Andrea Lacava, Sarah Tomlinson, Rebecca Myers, and Ashley Miller commented on their experiences over their four-year careers as a Knight and the team gave them one last sendoff before closing out the day. |
