Volleyball Tames Cabrini, 3-0

Aston, Pa. - The Neumann women's volleyball team improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the PAC by sweeping Cabrini College 3-0 at Bruder Gymnasium. The Knights, who hit .361 in the win, were led Julia Tarloski (Malvern, Pa. /Bishop Shanahan) and Rachael Sokolovich (Media, Pa. /Ridley). Both Tarloski and Sokolovich recorded 12 kills and 4 service aces apiece for the Knights, who got at least one kill from 8 different players.

The Knights jumped out immediately against the Cavaliers. Neumann hit a match-best .448 in the first match to grab a 30-22 win. In the second match of the night Neumann went from a comfortable lead to a rout when the team took a 9-2 lead in the opening minutes of play and finished the match 30-12. The final match of the night was a bit more even as Cabrini managed to tie the Knights seven times. However, after the seventh tie of the match (17-17) Neumann pulled away to end the night in three games, 30-22.  

Tarloski led Neumann with 12 kills on 19 attempts for a .632 hitting percentage. She added 4 service aces and three block assists to her credit. Sokolovich was also a major factor in the Knights' 6th consecutive win as she hit for 12 kills, 4 service aces, 7 digs and a block solo in the win. Ashley Mathis (Norristown, Pa. /Norristown) record 11 kills on 22 attempts for a .455 hitting percentage and Kristen Verone (Folsom, Pa. /Cardinal O'Hara) had 32 assist for the Knights.

Neumann will return to action on Friday when the travel to Lebanon Valley College for the Dutchman Volleyball invitational. The Knights' first game is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
