Knights Take 1 of 4 at the Flying Dutchman Tournament

Annville, Pa. - Neumann College's women's volleyball team dropped three of four games at the Flying Dutchman Tournament, hosted by Lebanon Valley this weekend. The Knights drew PAC rival Eastern University in their first match and after trading the first two games (16-30, 30-24) Neumann dropped the final two games (30-15, 30-24), to the 2006 PAC Champion. Sophomore middle hitter Julia Tarloski (Malvern, Pa. /Bishop Shanahan) led the Knights with 11 kills, 3 errors on 34 attempts. Outside hitter Meghan Wilson (West Chester, Pa. /Bishop Shanahan) hit for 7 kills, 2 errors and recorded 21 attempts in the loss. Christina Walsh (Downingtown, Pa. /Bishop Shanahan) led the Knights defense with 26 digs while Allison Hazewski (Middletown, De. /St. Elizabeth's) recorded 6 digs.

In the second match of the opening night, Neumann College faced University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, falling 3-1 (17-30, 23-30, and 20-30). Tarloski led the Knights once again with 20 kills. Lindsay Buckland (Middletown, De. /Caravel Academy) chipped in with 5 kills and 4 blocks while Walsh added 17 digs.

The Knights battled Franklin and Marshall in their first match of the second day and fell 3-0 (30-19, 30-22, 30-24) in a tough match against the Diplomats. Julia Tarloski and Kelly Saville (Brookhaven, Pa. /Sun Valley) combined for 15 kills while Allison Hazewski (Middletown, De. /St. Elizabeth's) recorded 14 digs.

In the fourth and final match of the tournament Neumann grabbed their first win of the weekend defeating Ursinus College 3-0 (30-24, 30-19, and 20-14). The Knights' Meghan Wilson posted 10 kills and 25 digs while Buckland and Sarah Miller (Elkton, Md. /Elkton) added 6-kills each in the win. Defensively Tarlowski blocked 6 attempts in the 3-0 sweep.  

The Knights' 2006 season continues Wednesday September 20 at Gwynedd Mercy College beginning at 7:00 p.m.
