Neumann took the opening game with a commanding 30-8 win. Julia Tarloski, Meghan Wilson and Rachael Sokolovich combined for ten kills. Freshman Emilee Gruse also helped out with two key kills. The defensive end was held strong by Alyssa Brigg, Meghan Wilson and Melissa Haines, together combining 11 digs. In game two fans saw a much stronger Rosemont but still no match for the Knights. The freshman offensive duo of Emilee Gruse (5) and Lindsay Buckland (2) put together a combined 7 kills on the game. The Knights came up on top 30-14 to go up 2-0 entering the third game. With Rosemont facing elimination for the night, Neumann jumped out to an early lead (17-11) led by riveting kills by freshman Emilee Gruse for the third consecutive game. Neumann finished off the night with a 30-17 victory in the third and final game. Tonight's match had some strong performances by some new faces including freshman middle hitter Emilee Gruse. "Emilee makes good choices on the court and tries everything she is taught," Coach Jespersen explains. Gruse finished with 11 kills and only 1 error (.769%). "Emilee is an important part of our offense, and will play a key role in this program in her years here at Neumann". Neumann is home for a third game this week on Saturday when they Knights host |
