Tarloski Shines in Centenary Sweep

Aston, Pa. -The Women's Volleyball Team (15-8, PAC 7-0) won their 7th straight PAC match up against Centenary College this evening, keeping them undefeated in PAC play.  The Knights won in 3 games (30-21, 30-19, 30-22).  Julia Tarloski led the Knights with 11 kills and a .588 hitting percentage.  

 

Neumann and Centenary fought point for point in game one, before taking a 24-16 lead in which they did relinquish ending in the game 30-21.  The Knights were led by Ashley Mathis and Julia Tarloski who added four kills each for the Knights. 

 

The Knights kept the momentum going in game two with a 5-0 lead but Centenary answered tying the game up at 10-all.  Neumann rebounded taking a 21-15 lead and closed out with 30-19 victory.  Emilee Gruse added seven kills and Juila Tarloski had a .727 hitting percentage with four kills.  Kristen Verone had 12 assists as the Knights went up 2-0.  

 

Game three was back and fourth in the early moments of play.  The Knights then went on a run taking a 20-13 lead and finished out the game 30-22 to sweep Centenary College. 

 

Overall, the Knights defense, led by Meghan Wilson with 19 digs, kept Centenary's hitting percentage at -.016.  The Knights also had 13 team blocks during the course the three games.  Emily Gruse had 12 kills with a .524 hitting percentage and Julia Tarloski added 11 kills and a .588 hitting percentage.

 

Coach Deana Jespersen was extremely impressed with her team and stated, "Our defense was incredibly strong. Rachele Dimichele, Melissa Haines and Meghan Wilson really led this team tonight and played very well."

 

Neumann will return action at Gwynedd-Mercy College on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Gwynedd Valley, PA.
