Oct. 10, 2006

Box Score

ASTON, Pa.- The Neumann Knights volleyball team hosted the Pacers of Marywood University in a PAC Match up at the Bruder Gymnasium this evening.

Both teams entered tonight's match up with a 6-2 conference record but it was the Knights who bettered their PAC record to 7-2 with a 3-0 sweep of the Pacers. Neumann overcame Marywood with scores of 30-19, 30-12, and 30-22.

The first game included back and forth action between both teams, but it was Neumann who pulled away with the win for the first game, 30-20.

Neumann started off the second game strong, with holding the lead over the Pacers throughout the game. The Knights' quick response to Marywood's play allowed Neumann to outscore the Pacers 30-12 in the second game. Knights Rachael Sokolovich (9 kills) and Julia Tarloski (8 kills) put forth their best effort in the win with the most kills.

With two wins under their belt, Neumann entered the third game with confidence. Taking a 30-22 advantage to end the night.

Overall, several Knights' contributions were the key to success on the evening. Julia Tarloski had 14 kills on the night, and teammate Rachael Sokolovich ended the evening with 13 kills.

With the win, the Knights have tied up what has been a competitive series (6-6) between these to teams in recent history. The last two meetings between the Pacers and the Knights have resulted in five games, with each team earning a win; Neumann in 2004 and Marywood in 2005.

The Knights will take home court once again this Thursday October 12th at 7:00 p.m. when they face Baptist Bible College.
