With the loss Neumann falls to 20-9 and 10-1 in the conference. Eastern improves to 16-14 and 11-0 in the conference and continues a 102 PAC game win streak. Neumann fell behind early in game one 6-0 and could not get in rhythm as they fell 30- 18. Eastern's Mandy Platt and Bridget Carey showed strong net presence in the match. The Knights came out and played well in game two grabbing an 8-6 lead but after an Eastern timeout the Eagles jumped back in front and did not lose the lead wining the match 30-23. In game three the Knights fell behind early 7-0 but rallied to tie the score up at 16-16. The Eagles went up once again but Neumann fought right back to come within 2 points at 21-19. The Knights showed fight all the way but could not answer the Eastern attack losing 30-26. The Knights were led by Ashley Mathis (Norristown, Pa. /Norristown) with 10 kills, Emilee Gruse (Lafayette, In. /St. Mark's) with 7 kills and Julia Tarloski (Malvern, Pa. /Bishop Shanahan) and Lindsay Buckland (Middletown, De. /Caravel Academy) with 5-kills each. Neumann Knight Kristen Verone (Folsom, Pa. /Cardinal O'Hara) recorded 27 assists in the match and Meghan Wilson (West Chester, Pa. /Bishop Shanahan) added 18 digs. The Knights will return to action on Saturday when they host Richard Stockton College and DeSales University in a tri-match starting at 11 a.m. |
