Knights Announce 2007 Volleyball Schedule

June 15, 2007

ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann College Volleyball team will open its 2007 season on Saturday, September 1 at the 23rd Annual Haverford College Tournament. The Knights are schedule to compete in 3 tournaments and 3 tri-matches, two of which they will host at the Neumann College Bruder Gymnasium. They will also host four league matches before capping off the season at the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Championship at the end of October.

Neumann is scheduled to play five contests against teams which qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season, including two who advanced to the semifinal round.

Neumann will open play September 1-2 in Haverford, Pennsylvania at the Haverford Tournament and will participate in the Lebanon Valley and Elizabethtown Tournaments mid-season.  The Knights will conclude tournament play at the Baptist Bible Tournament on October 20-21.

Neumann hosts the Baptist Bible Defenders in its season home opener on September 4. Here, the Knights will try and avenge a 3-2 late-season loss at home last year.

After three road matches, including the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference opener against Immaculata, Neumann will return to Aston for one night to play host to Cabrini mid-September. The Knights' stop at home will be short as they are back on the road for their next three matches at the Lebanon Valley Tournament.

On September 19 Neumann will host, for the first time in school history, the College of Notre Dame, who enters the conference this year and will compete against the Knights for the first time this season.

Neumann will head north to compete in the Elizabethown Tournament and then pay a visit to PAC rival Marywood University on September 24 before returning home to host Alvernia (Sept. 29), Misericordia (Oct. 1), Widener (Oct. 6) and newly joined PAC opponent Centenary College (Oct. 8).

After a three-match road trip against Scranton, Baptist Bible and Eastern, Neumann will host their second tri-match of the season.  The Knights will battle DeSales and Richard Stockton College at home before heading in to PAC Championships on October 30.

Neumann returns six starters to a team that posted a 21-15 record in 2006, including a 9-2 mark in the conference. The 2006 PAC Rookie of the Year, Emilee Gruse and all-conference honorees Julia Tarloski, Kristen Gregg-Verone, Rachael Sokolovich and Christina Walsh, will attempt to lead the team to a PAC title in 2007.
