2006 PAC Rookie of the Year, Emilee Gruse (Lafayette, In. /St. Mark's)
 
Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Announces Volleyball All-Conference

Aston, Pa.  - The Pennsylvania Athletic Conference announced its 2006 Volleyball All-Conference teams. Freshman middle hitter Emilee Gruse was named 2006 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year and her coach, Deana Jespersen, earned coach of the year honors for the second consecutive year.

Neumann Knights middle hitter Julia Tarloski, setter Kristen Gregg Verone, outside hitter Rachael Sokolovich and libero Christina Walsh, also claimed a spot on the 2006 All-PAC awards selection. Senior Jenna Halpin joined her teammates, representing the Knights on the All-PAC Sportsmanship Team.

 

Gruse appeared in 98 games and hit .314 in conference play with 85 kills and 25 errors in 191 attacks when nominations were submitted.  She added 21 service aces and 15 digs in leading the Knights to a third-place finish in the regular season and a second-place finish in the PAC Championship Tournament. Overall, Gruse averaged 2.56 kills per game, .57 digs per game, and 0.42 service aces per game in her first year as a Knight. Emilee Gruse was also named All-PAC Honorable Mention and PAC Player of the Week Honorable Mention for week ending October 1, 2006.

 

Sophomore middle hitter Julia Tarloski of Malvern, Pa. was named First Team All-PAC.  Tarloski was joined by Knights' setter and PAC assists leader Kristen Gregg-Verone. Gregg-Verone ended the season just 65 assists shy of the College's career assists record and led the PAC with an assists average of 10.41 per game. 

 

Representing Neumann on the PAC Second Team was Knights' libero Christina Walsh. Walsh totaled 108 digs, and 11 aces in 29 conference games.  She ends the season 5th all time in career digs with 912.

 

Emilee Gruse was joined on the All-PAC Honorable Mention team by Media, Pennsylvania native Rachael Sokolovich. Sokolovich is among the top ten in the PAC in kills and is second this season on the Knights' season leader's board with 335.

 

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2006 Volleyball Sportsmanship Team. Neumann's 2006 honoree was team captain and outside hitter Jenna Halpin.

 

Neumann continues their season on Friday at the 2006 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Tournament hosted by New Jersey City University. The Knights are set to face of with the tournament hosts at 6:00 p.m.
